The Music and Lyrics / Re: U2 and Politics Take the poll
« Last post by popsadie on February 22, 2018, 07:23:18 AM »
"The showman prays his heartache will chart", Er..I'm not sure quoting an ironic song lyric is the best support for your opinion. Personally, I'm thankful for the younger audience that came in with HTDAAB and NLOTH. It's kept the floor more lively than most shows that have featured 40 year in existence bands. I do feel that tickets have risen too much in price, but I'm always happy for new fans to come on board, even if it means competition for the so called "true fans." Besides, in some fan views, even my 21 year fanship could be called into question.

I think you could have it both ways. End the reselling of tickets online (I wish!).

But allow tickets to be be transferred (at face value) at Ticketmaster retail outlets. Both parties, the seller & the buyer would have to meet at a Ticketmaster location, with their ID. Tickets would be transferred for a fee, of course, TM needs their cut.

Yes, it would be a bit of a hassle, but at least it allows fans to trade/sell tickets at face value, & gives those who are unable to attend some way to get some of their money back.

Who knows, maybe some scalpers would demand more cash from the buyer on occasions, before the visit to the TM outlet, but I'm sure this would be very rare compared to the current resale market situation.

Tours / Re: Which Pop album songs would you love to hear on the upcoming eiTour?

Please and Mofo, but it's not going to happen.  They will not play anything of Pop except maybe an acoustic version of Staring At The Sun which I could do without.  With a new album SOE to promote which they will most likely play 6-8 new songs that will leave them with little room to play lesser known songs.

Expect the usually U2 formula.  New songs, onslaught of hits and fan favorites (which we all know what they are) and maybe 1 or 2 deep cuts (most likely a choice from Electric Co, Out Of Control, Gloria) which are their go to songs in order to please hardcore fans.  Sadly this is what U2 has become and for some time now - very predictable.

Only two, that's tough. Gone, plus Mofo (which just edged out Please. Do You Feel Loved wasn't far off either).

I've renewed for 2018 as well. Not a dickie bird.
I have to ask but, what on Earth is a "dickie bird"?...:-)

It's another form of diddly squat.

Hello :)  I am Brian... been reading the forums for years and figured I should create an account already :)

I am from Chicago, write/record/perform original indie folk music, and have been a U2 fan for as long as I can remember.

How about you?

It's a long time before the tour. Before SOI tour, each of the two shows in each city were said to be different. Well, things changed after they started rehearsing. I would love to hear several songs off POP. Until that happens, I will not get my hopes high.

Heck, if they decided to  play more of SOE instead of rarities, that's fine by me too. I would love to see a show without JT tunes due to playing it totally on the last tour. And, they seem to fall back on greatest hits on most tours as they roll on- that is my concern.
