Title: Favorite live performance of this JT tour?
Post by: cabral255 on October 11, 2017, 02:31:08 PM
If you had to pick your favorite live song from this tour what would it be? My vote is Exit. It was a song I was never really hat into but that performance was unreal! I love listening to it and remembering that moment. What's yours?

I think Bono put forth a special effort on "Exit", so I'd agree with you there.  It's a great song, and he added some excellent theatrics to enhance the moment.

Exit was unbelievable...but it's hard for me to pick one favorite from this tour. I'd never seen UV, so that was very special for me. And, they did a really nice job at my show with my all-time fav, Streets, so I really can't choose. (I've admitted before to being wishy-washy - still goes!)

Exit, love it when they explore darker themes and thought Exit worked particularly well on this tour.

I loved everything, especially "Bad" because it's my favorite and "Trip Through Your Wires" because it's such a fun romp on a pretty heavy album and Bono was being funny, but yeah, "Exit" was insane. What a wild horror trip. You could hear minds blowing all around as the big crescendo kept going. I was also amazed by how much more fun "Elevation" and "Vertigo" are as live experiences, and the crowd here really went nuts for the Spanish in "Vertigo," which made it even better. "Ultra Violet" was beautiful as well.

ASOH, saw it at the Rose Bowl. MOTD and Exit otherwise.

MOTD was also a very moving performance. It made me feel like I was back in my immigrant grandmothers apartment which was over 30 years ago. At one point I felt like I could almost see her on the screen.

Another vote for MOTD from me.  I found that song and One Tree Hill very harrowing and moving.  Subjectively, the fact I never saw these two tracks performed on the original TJT tour probably also helped them seem more special to me.

Yes, One Tree Hill was beautifully done. Another that I really enjoyed was Trip Through Your Wires...what fun, and they did a great job with it.

Yes, "One Tree Hill" was fantastic.  The poetry of that song has always moved me.

Red. Hill. Mining. Town.
I honestly thought that on the original JT, Red Hill Mining Town was on the lower middle tier
But the JT30 version is on JT top tier!

A little surprised that Bullet the Blue Sky hasn't made an appearance here yet.   That one, and Exit, were brilliant for me, and all too relevant again all these years after they first appeared.

Bullet the Blue Sky was so good on the SoI tour it is hard to think it was a stand-out this time round.

As much as I want to pick a different song, Elevation takes the cake for me from the show I saw. The energy in Raymond James Stadium was like nothing I've ever seen when they played that song. That place exploded!

I'm going to be good and only give the award to one song, but Bullet the Blue Sky, One Tree Hill, and Mothers of the Disappeared deserve honorable mentions. I felt like the show was almost too loud from where I was standing, but the noise was fitting for BTBS (coupled with exceptional production), and the latter two were mellow enough that I felt like I really got to enjoy them properly.

Yep, Exit was absolutely, earth shakingly, end of the world good. The opening four songs were great too but Bad stood head and shoulders above the other three. In Gods Country was great too.

"Exit" was worth the price of admission alone.  The R&H version of Exit was one of the first "OMG U2 are awesome!!!" moments I had at the impressionable age of 13.  It didn't dissapoint.  Hearing tracks 6-11 live at all was a surreal experience.

It's great to have a unpopular opinion ;). In Gods Country had a nice intro and Space Tree was nice!

I'd say Exit, bullet the blue sky, vertigo, new year's day, ultraviolet. Its tough to pick though when you can only afford one show. So many to choose from.

Exit is one of my all time favourite songs and JT30 was my first time hearing it live (ZOO TV was my first u2 show). I thought I would never hear it live and u2 absolutely nailed it. I have never looked forward to a live song so much and have had exceed my expectations. Loved it!!

Also special mention to TTYW - amazing live!

Exit was AWESOME, I agree with everybody here.  May be the last time I get to say this here but I'm JEALOUS of everyone who got to go to ZOO TV in person.

I'd like to echo the sentiment about In God's Country being very good. I know I didn't mention it as a total showstopper in my previous post, but it was no slouch by any means and one of the show's better points. I get a kick out of the fact that it isn't necessarily one of the band's favorites, because I think of the four singles from the album, it and Streets go back and forth as my favorite. I was thrilled to hear it live, even if I only just really paid attention to it right before the tour (and probably much more afterward).

I really hate to be cliche here but... Exit.  His whole persona, the atmosphere, everything about it was awesome. I also feel New Years Day had more of a bite compared to other recent tours.

Exit or Red Hill Mining Town.  If I had to choose one, I'd say Exit.  It definitely kicked the energy up a notch!

Many to choose from. Loved having NYD back in the setlist nightly. Enjoyed Streets and Still Haven't Found too, but tempted to pick JT tracks 5-11, as I had never heard them live and don't know if/when most will return to future setlists.

Exit, also because it was the biggest surprise for me!

Further also really loved I Will Follow as closer in Amsterdam 2 and Brussels. It was the perfect end of a magnificent concert

One Tree Hill > Exit > Mothers

Three of their best songs played in succession. I agree that Exit was definitely the highlight of the show. The three of those songs made the whole show worth it IMO.
