Are you sure this isn't a documentary about the 360* Tour?

Perhaps the staff should write a legal statement that covers sarcasm so that it can be recognized.

Yeah, but they 'didn't make' all that much with all the expenses on 360.

Always looking forward to see recent Bono, even if he might be rehashing older ideas

Insisting on stadiums, corporate sponsorship, Live Nation, BlackBerry ads everywhere, etc. It would have been funnier if you didn't press me for an explanation!

No, I got it the first time round, but it would have been funnier if they had truly outrageous ticket prices, like The Eagles or something. *shrug*

Don't worry, I'm sure you haven't lost it :)

I think we all know about Bono's and Bill Gates' and Bob Geldof's anti-poverty efforts with U2, Microsoft, and the Fairytale of New York.  I don't have to watch a documentary about it.

I'm guessing by the title of the programme that it's going to be asking the hard questions and made or presented at least from a naysayers point of view, so I'm expecting Bono and Bob to come out fighting, rather than it being a nice friendly piece about what they get up to. Hope so anyway.

I saw it tonite and it was really good. I consider it to be a major documentary for U2 fans. It gave both equal time to Geldof and Bono. It just discussed celebrity power, aid, Live Aid failures and touched on some Imperialistic issues regarding white men in Africa. It also spoke to leading African development players and many high profile US politicians. These included Jesse Helms, Bill Gates, Jamie Drummond, Tom Hart, Bobby Shriver and a fair amount of screen time to George W. Bush.

The special guest in house was Brian Stewart who was the CBC journalist who first aired the Ethiopian story that inspired Geldof way back when. It wasn't all a feel good movie as they touched upon the backlash that both Bono & Bob got from both the African community and 'angry lefties'.

Stewart praised Geldof as a sophisticated person and very intelligent. They also profiled a meeting between Bono and Gates were Gates was blown away by Bonos personal persuasion.

When you are dealing with extreme poverty, what is the problem? The urgency of the issue is kinda what this documentary blew over. They dealt with how politics can be eclipsed in dire, dire matters. I actually wished they highlighted that more, that party lines must come second in emergencies...In essence the whole purpose of the One campaign....

Wonder when this was filmed? I would guess post-360 tour, from the look of Bono  ;)

Was just making the observation that the programme wasn't going to be a sugar coated celebration of Bono and Bob's efforts.

I'm curious to know what is Bono's point of view of the Euro crisis and its implications on some European countries and Europe as a whole. This is in not meant to distract from his considerable efforts in campaigning for getting Africa out of debt, but it should be rather interesting nonetheless, since, despite all their American leanings in musical style, U2 are a band from Europe.

I hope there will be some clever lyrics adressing this European subject on their next album but I'm afraid Bono might want to sacrifice his lyric writing for a continued effectiveness of his lobbyism in a way that his words will be politically correct - which they most certainly were not in South Africa when artists opposed Apartheid in the 80s. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I think Bonos point of view is for European countries to tighten their belts, dig deep and redouble their efforts in donating money to poorer countries: We cant let an economic recession become a moral recession.  To pay for this, Bono probably thinks EU countries should put up taxes on the ordinary Muppets who pay full taxes in their countries, even if rich corporations such as Amazon, Starbucks, and U2, move their companies offshore to minimise their tax liabilities.  Of course, I may be wrong, but Id love to have a public clarification session with him on it.
