I like the pitch-bend at the beginning of RTSS. I don't know why but it really gets your attention before the piano comes in. ;D

But does the Boss run around like Bono ::)

Frankly, yes. :P

TUC's right!!

HE CROWD-SURFED AT MY CONCERT!!!  :D :D

Springsteen is getting much more interactive on this tour. They introduced a B stage during the Madison Square Garden gigs this year, and he also has a ramp, not as big as the U2 ramp, but he'll go sauntering from side to side of the arena and then up in back of the stage. He looks like he's having a wonderful time -- in the concert I saw, he sang for nearly three hours without a break.

Coldplay also picks up on some of Bono's wanderings. Chris Martin was all over the stage and they have two wings on either side, one that's big enough to hold an upright piano, and when I saw them they had a B stage up in the audience which they played from just before a bathroom break.

Back to the main topic: to me, Bono has never played the guitar, he just sort of holds his guitar as a prop.

Most rock stars, be it Bono, Jagger or Elvis, want to be associated with the guitar.  It makes for a good pose especially when wearing black leather e.g The Fly or Elvis 68 comeback special.

(to the original question)

Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me would still be a regular in the setlist. Check out the Popmart DVD: what is arguably the best song they wrote in the whole Fly/sci-fi vein, was rendered limp by the Edge trying to sustain the song musically on his own (albeit with valiant help from Adam).

If you look at early footage of the Pop tour they tried to use string samples to prop it up, but what it really needs is two guitars, Hello Bono... ? I hope they revive it for Glastonbury, but the chances are approximately zero.

I always thought of HMTMKMKM as highly disposable.

So im kinda just barging in here..
but yes, I rather Bono run around and interact with the crowd then play guitar.
I dont think I ever laughed so hard after seeing " All along the watch tower" In rattle and hum.
Bono literally pretends to play the guitar. Its so funny!  I love it though!
He admits himself, the band likes it better when he doesnt play guitar .

And can we agree Bono may be bad at guitar but is a better singer than Edge

Absolutely.  Bono is the absolute greatest rock singer alive today I will bet anyone.

Best rock singer alive today? I love U2 and Bono is a great singer/songwriter but he is also pushing 50. "Best singer/greatest singer" competitions are left to those who haven't smoked too much yet and aren't old.

Owl City anyone? Okay, now I'm just being facetious.
