I am officially ignoring the negative element of this post and streamlining straight to the topic at hand.

I have the radio show streaming now and am pumped! I welcome all opinions (even critical ones), but please do it in an intelligent fashion that I have come to expect from U2 fans.

Thoughts on "Boots"?

Hey unforgettableu2, how did you find it on iTunes? Do I need to refresh the store somehow or something?

i looked for it half an hour ago and i couldn't buy it, but it was the second song option (there are two GOYB entries). Are you in the us? That's where i am, and i hear that's the only place you can download it.

I get nada when I search Get On Your Boots. Oddly enough, though, U2 appears under "artists." But even so, if I click on U2 and try to browse to the song, I can't find it.

Edit: Yeah, I'm in Utah. I haven't updated iTunes in a while, although I'm not sure why that should matter, but maybe it does?

Canadian store worked too  ;D How do you guys like that associated artwork?? I like the font, except for how the Os are filled in.

Looks like gray is the new red.

Update iTunes. you'll need version 8.0.2 to be able to download iTunes Plus songs (higher quality and DRM-free)

Sorry for the cross-post but this seems like a more appropriate place to talk about Boots...

It's a lot to digest. I'm not crazy about the hook. On the other hand, I love Bono's cadence and the rhythm of the whole song, and while it's built on a conventional song structure a lot of the sound is unpredictable in a good way, such as the tone of Edge's harmonics and Larry's drums at the end. I like that there are several sonic layers here.

Most of all, it comforts me that this song stood out as the obvious single to people who have heard the entirety of the album. It's not a phoned-in single, the way I felt after hearing "Vertigo" (only made worse after hearing "Native Son"). Hopefully it's indicative of the craft and thought that went into the rest of NLOTH.
