U2
David Bowie
Depeche Mode
Peter Murphy
Killing Joke
Die Krupps
Dead Kennedys

Now this is a nice group!!

Here's mine:

1. U2 (Nothing to be said here)
2. The Cure (Robert Smith enough said. Both brilliant on the guitar and in vocals)
3. Peter Murphy (More solo material then with Bauhaus. He'd be my #1 if I wasn't such a huge U2 fan. This man is flat out brilliant and WHAT A VOICE! A must to see live!)
4. The Mission (Wayne Hussey and this band falls under the radar and into the underachieved category. How they didn't become more well known in the USA is mind boggeling)
5. R.E.M. (Michael Stipe is just a fabulous front man and an incredible voice both on cd and live. Another act to see and hear live. Just for this voice.)
6. The Alarm (Mike Peters is a brilliant singer/songwriter. They got huge one moment in time on both sides of the Atlantic but he's still going strong. Incredible man.)
7. Morrissey/The Smiths (Moz is an incredible gifted song writer. A unique voice to go with makes him have to be in any top 10.

------
the others in no particular order
Depeche Mode - Dave Gahan
Echo & The Bunnymen - Ian McCulloch
Big Country- Stewart Adamson
Joy Division- Ian Curtis
Live - Ed Kowalcyzk
The Killers - Brandon Flowers
Coldplay-Chris Martin
The Sisters Of Mercy- Andrew Eldritch

So the killers and coldplay seem to be on a lot of these lists (both great bands), i remember i read an article that said they both ripped off U2, coldplay was U2 with a piano. I disagree with this article and think they both have their own sound, but i was thinking are these two bands that its safe to say most u2 fans would like? what other bands could we add?

Ok I thought about it & edited my list, bc I'm indecisive. Those are def. my top 4 that will always stay there in those spots for the rest of my life.

There are so many...

U2, The Alarm, ABBA, Echo and the Bunnymen, Gavin Friday and the Virgin Prunes, The Clash, The Ramones, The Cure, Roxy Music, Ultravox, Paul Weller, Style Council, Jam, Sade, Everything But the Girl, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Altered Images, Yazoo,  Madness, The Specials, The Beat, Stray Cats, etc  :D :D

Just listen to XM's classic alternative station and that would sum it all up for me  ;)

The glory of the 80's.

I so agree! Im also an 80's child and that list brings back so many memories, like filling the beetle 'S boot with stolen garden flowers  to go put on all the graves, 10 o 'clock  at night whilst listening to Siouxsie and   also the B52's..

My list-

U2
Alphaville
Depeche Mode
Kings of Leon
Roxy music
Prince
Jack Johnson
Coldplay

Sorry, thats 8
