It's funny because the majority of people that despise U2 probably haven't heard anything outside of Vertigo or Beautiful Day.

you my friend, just described everyone at my school who claims to hate U2. ::)

Simply reply "and you've heard anything by them?". If they're stupid, it should shut them up, if they're intelligent, then they probably would have some valid reason.

U2 tends to seperate the intellectuals and the ignorant.

At least your classmates know who U2 is. Mine either thinks that U2 was a band in the 60s and wrote Disney's Tarzan soundtrack or was Mary J Blige's touring band.

I'd actually consider it a good thing if they don't really know who U2 are, despite the stupidity which is obvious.

Yep, I thought so too though U2 coming from the 60s is quite a common thing to hear.
But as usual, I turn into The Gallagher Brothers when one of them starts mouthing off that Bon Jovi or Oasis is the greatest rock band ever.

Where I'm from, its 24/7 Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne and Justin Bieber. Even Nickelback is becoming an endangered species.

The only good thing about that post was the Nicklecrack are becoming an endangered species bit. But it's a lose-lose situation.

I miss the days when mediocre rock used to rule the airwaves.

My friend who I thought I got to like U2.. informed me over twitter she deleted every song off the list I gave her
but Crazy Tonight.

heartbreaking.

That IS really sad - :(

i dont try.  if anyone tries to argue with me about my liking of u2, i normally ask them what they've heard.  the response is usually vertigo.  i shake my head and say "i pity you..."  ;D ;D

i have yet to make a convert...but im workin on it :D

I used to try really hard to get people to listen to me about U2.  They would usually make fun of me.  This one girl I worked with (commenting on my excitement of scoring U2 tickets to Boston) said "I wish I had something I loved as much as you do that band."  It was probably one of the meanest things anyone ever said to me.  The FUNNIEST thing was one of the men I worked for at the time said "Tell Bono I said hi" the day before I left for Boston -- and I did meet Bono on that trip!!

Now, I just enjoy the music knowing that I am right -  :-*

You know, I have thought of that - it's a moment in time that can't be taken away and must be shared.  Maybe I'll post the whole story sometime.  It's pretty good.

Both of my kids love U2 - so I guess I have done a good job there.
