Well, I've ordered my vinyl, but I have to say I'm really not keen on that Snow Patrol Remix. I think Redanka could have done a much better version :'(

Initially I didn't like it either.  But then I realized it suffers from a poor beginning.  It's a bit montononous the first 90 seconds and I don't like the "rise up" lines.  But after that, particularly after the 2:30 mark, I think it actually gets pretty good.  It's more interesting than most of the remixes that's come out of the NLOTH catalog so far.

To be honest, I'm disappointed that Artificial Horizon is even for sale. I rant talk about it a bit on my blog, You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login:

Quote
I’m disappointed with this edition of Artificial Horizon. Although I’m not a member of U2.com, I’m still insulted that what was once a Fan Club Only release is now up for sale.

Granted, it’s not the same exact item. (I suspect there would be a major uproar if those who’d bought a $50 U2.com subscription for the bonus remix album ever saw the CD made commercial.) But there’s a certain principle being betrayed here: don’t give away something and then put a slightly different version of it up for sale.

I’m also irked by how mechanized the production of this version is coming across. According to the splash page, “This collectors edition vinyl release of Artificial Horizon will be pressed up on May 14th 2010, the day orders close, and mailed to customers immediately after manufacturing.”

Regardless of whether or not the process ends up running at this level of efficiency, the fact remains that U2.com is promising customers they won’t have to wait for their purchase. And although Artificial Horizon may be “worth the wait,” subscribers already did quite a bit of sitting around anticipating its delivery this past winter.

Let there be no doubt, this is a collectors’ edition: a time-sensitive pressing of a three-record set. Still, although LPs have seen a resurgence in the past few years, I’m sure those thirsty to hear the album-exclusive remixes will head to Blogspot before they even think of buying with Livenation.com — Snow Patrol remix or not.

(And a side note: why three discs? I’m sure it’s a matter of track time and running order, but couldn’t this have been released on one LP?)

If a triple vinyl of U2 remixes is exactly what you’ve been looking for, I mean you no slight. But obviously, this release is just not for me.

Again, a bit of a rant. But am I off-base here?

Not off base at all. That's kind of what cheesed me off. I just got my copy this week..."Fan club members only"...and not even a week later, it's for sale for the public.

So basically, they just need to call a spade a spade. The membership fees we all payed were basically to get pre-orders of the concert tickets. So the biggest fans of the band now have to pay an additional $50 to get the seats we want. I really feel like we're getting the runaround with this.

That's just my vibe of it, though.

Seriously, guys! Ebay!

Honestly ... I'd personally rather pay the $35 now than have to deal with the stress of eBay.  Because I'm guaranteed an album.  eBay stresses me out.

eBay in place of paying $50 for the membership.

@U2 + eBay > U2.com

I've always hated the song (sorry, folks)...and I don't care for Snow Patrol much. Passing this one up was easy.

Vinyl or not, $30-$35 seems a a lot to charge for a collection of remixes. Most of which are not new and have been circulating for some time.

It would cost me a hell of a lot more to not have a fanclub membership and order the vinyl, because I would have to actually buy *gasp* a record player.

The triple vinyl is a very cool collectable, the CD is for listening ;)
