U2 Ultimatum (Larry Mullen Jr. Band) Front & Center
« on: January 22, 2009, 11:01:20 AM »
I am interested to hear if other U2 fans believe as I do that on this tour "less is more" when it comes to Bono...  I would love to see Larry Mullen Jr. be front and center (literally) on this tour and have Bono all the way in the back banging on a tambourine or playing his three chords on his little red guitar.

I remember a really cool youtube video of a very early performance of "I Will Follow" by U2 where Larry Mullen Jr is front and center and Bono is way in the back singing.  This was incredible in its architecture and enhanced the sound of the band.

Interestingly, the newest single, "Get On Your Boots" is really a LMJ vehicle and the song is a subtle hint of U2's ultimatum to Bono to stop preaching on about things other than music.  Bono is addressing the band to let himself back in:  "Let Me in the sound".

Do you agree that having U2 tour with Larry Mullen Jr. front and center on his drum kit would make for a more enjoyable tour and U2 experience in 2009/2010?

It would be cool to see Larry in front.

What happened to Adam? Larry looks older in that video.

Bono's moves in this are hilarious...but Adam's hair and glasses combo steals the show

Hellooo People, can we discuss the architecture and the sound of having LMJ front and center and Bono practicing his guitar in the background and less analysis on Adam's hair! ;)

Imagine the concert this summer where you see LMJ sitting front and center on the drum kit throughout the complete concert and Bono in the back hanging onto the shoulder of Edge or Adam and not running around the stage.  This to me will redefine the band as we head into the next decade...

What about you...

The pure thought of this set up has me drooling!!! The drums have always been my favorite part of the band!!! To watch Larry passionately giving himself to those drums...that would be the best!!! ever!!!

A dreadful idea...the drummer, vital as he is, just sits there.  I came to watch a show...give me the guy who turns his fingers into bull horns to do battle with Edge's guitar!

But Bono roams all over the place anyway, the front spot might as well be well used by Larry.

Well then it's a non-issue...as soon as Bono wanders off, guess who's, by default, front and center now?

Larry needs to get this for Bono and tie it up to his drum kit!

Hey! I used leashes for my kids when we visited the Grand Canyon. I was terribly worried they might fall off the cliff.
