it's like a night and day comparison and they dropped the best part of the show.  hopefully they'll alternate the 2 songs or something?

Ultraviolet is so much better than HMTMKMKM, its not even funny.  Ultraviolet is such a gem, a highlight of U2's catalogue

You posted a video from the European leg, which didnt have the best performances of Ultraviolet :P
In the US, the steering wheel was lit up

If by "mistake" you mean "upgrade", then I agree 100%.   8)

As much as I love UV, I will go in favour of HMTMKMKM. And for the record, the best performances of UV was in Europe, where Bono's voice was strong and fresh.

Rose Bowl performance was shoddy in compared with Sheffield/ Barcelona.

I think they're both great. Can't make my mind up ... either/or really.

But, here's to shaking it all up a bit!   8)

Oh, I do wish he would quit swinging on the mic though - that cannot be a good idea!!

We got the return of a classic for the first part of 360, now we get the return of another classic, in it's place. I'm perfectly okay with it.

I've always regarded Hold Me, Thrill Me as a throwaway song, not even proper U2 and to replace a great, emotional song like Ultraviolet which works brilliantly live is indeed a big mistake.

I am not saying that HMTMKMKM needed to replace UV - I thought UV was brilliant last summer - but I think HMTMKMKM is the *perfect* song for someone who's had an injury (or life crisis) and is trying to fight back.  I think it's the last time U2 wrote something that was meant to be in-your-face and badass.  I don't play guitar, but I'd imagine it is fun to play, and I get a great rush when the song transitions from the introduction into the proper guitar riff, like Edge has just drop-kicked me.  And there is that little pull-back interlude before the final verse that one of the few places in U2's catalogue where I can imagine a striptease would not be out of place.

Respect to those mourning the absence of UV, but clearly I like this addition to the set.  :)

HMTM has a theme running through it that has a lot to do with NLOTH theme and its tour, so it's a very very fitting song. And I think their perfomance of the song from this tour is better than back in 1998 on Popmard tour. Again, I feel U2 play all their songs with much more seriousness than in the 90's, which might explain this change of style.

Unpredictable setlists can only be a plus.  I applaud them for shaking it up regardless of which song is better.  (For the record I like UV better, but that was a good spot for HMTM and they did a good job).

HMKMTMKM is an awesome song, I've always enjoyed it and it's great to see them perform it live again. I just with they replaced a different song than UV, which has been the highlight of the tour throughout.

An even better spot for Desire. ;)

Hold Me is very much a throwaway song, after seeing the video from Turin it is still a throwaway song.  The difference is as you say the emotion, there is none in Hold Me, UV raises the hairs on your neck. I find it funny that this is even being discussed. It's akin to taking out Streets and replacing it with Do you feel loved, the choice is black and white for me...a bit of a no brainer really.

Ultra Violet was the highlight of the 360 show I saw at Giants Stadium.

Ultra Violet also was the highlight of the very first indoor ZOO TV show I saw.

We complain when they don't mix-up the setlist and we complain when they do.  ::) :P

Anyways, I love both songs (they're 2 of my all time favorite U2 songs). Now, I would've preferred that they replaced a different song for Hold Me, but oh well.

I'm sure Ultraviolet will come back and hopefully they'll play both songs on the same night.
