What is Bono singing at the end of MOS
« on: August 10, 2010, 02:59:45 PM »
Having watched most of the opening night at Turin I was pleasantly surprised by the band`s energy, no doubt helped along by the wonderful crowd, but what was Bono singing in the closing bars of Moment Of Surrender? It seemed like some sort of rap words but could`nt quite make out what it was, anyone help?

Life is short
Itís the longest thing youíll ever do
The worst of the curse
Was that your dreams came true
God is a mirror in which each man sees himself
God is a place where you donít need any help
When I first met you, your face was like snow
What about wherever you wanted to go
Your face, your grace, your lipstick trace
Your case as you put it down
8.17 on the ground
Your faith in a clown
Donít leave me now
Donít leave me now
Alone in the song
Donít leave me now
Alone in the song

he also sang that at Saturday Night Live last year- or at least something very similar.

I like the "face of snow" part--- very reminiscent of Acrobat.

I am so glad this was asked and answered!  I was just trying to make the whole thing out last night...but it was crazy late and I totally forgot to look for it today.  Thanks for reading my mind, padre!  And thank you for answering, JT!

No problem! It was easier than trying to remember it to just go to the @U2 Lyrics page. :D By the way, padrepio, I love your name. :)

He's singing it at the end of MOS at the Rose Bowl, too.  Funny, I was at the Rose Bowl and don't remember it (I was so transfixed in everything), but love it on the DVD.  What does 8:17 on the ground mean?
