What NLOTH songs will we see on future tours?
« on: September 25, 2010, 05:34:20 AM »
With the 360 Tour's contingent of NLOTH songs down to four regulars, it's interesting to speculate on what songs we'll see making their way onto future tours. Will it be the songs that they have decided to retain? They have consistently discussed the album's live strength so might we see a return for Breathe, UC or NLOTH? (After all, they felt strong enough about them to play them almost every night for two legs- and to open with Breathe!) Will the original version of Go Crazy make an appearance?

I included NLOTH songs we haven't heard live yet because
A) There's always a possibility they will appear late (See Crumbs on the Vertigo Tour)
B) It's not unprecedented to play unplayed songs from an album live on successive tours (The First Time)

My personal bet would be that Boots and Magnificent will be the two regulars from this tour, with Moment of Surrender making some appearances and NLOTH / original Go Crazy also making sporadic appearances. But what are everybody's thoughts?

I can see the original Crazy Tonight appearing in future tours, they've barely played it in that form on this tour so it would sound quite fresh. I think Magnificent will be a regular, not sure about Boots, NLOTH and Breathe though. There's plenty more potentially great live songs on that album though, White as Snow, SUC and especially Fez/Being Born.

I can see no Line on the Horizon making a comeback...

magnificent will hang around for a bit.

It's a better album than its individual songs in my opinion.

I sort of agree and sort of disagree. I think it's the most *consistent* album since Achtung Baby, so there's really any selection of about nine songs from the album which I could feasibly see them playing and would be extremely happy with.

Unlike the last two albums where, IMO, it was always obvious that the singles were going to be the ones played on future tours.

I picked Magnificent, but I have a feeling NLOTH may be like Zooropa and Pop and produce no songs that will be part of a core setlist for a future tour.

I picked Boots, Magnificent, and Crazy (non-remix)

When I come to think of it, I don't think we will see any NLOTH songs on the next tour.

That just wont happen.  U2 has never not played songs from the previous album/tour on the next tour

I suppose it's a question of; where in a future set would any of the songs fit in?  It's a poser.

Not true.  No Zooropa songs were performed during the entire PopMart Tour.

Zooropa isnt like all of U2's other studio albums.  All of the other one's had buildup, media hype, and promotional tours of sorts.  Zooropa wasn't even planned to be a full album.

Zooropa is still an album and they didn't play one track off of it for the entire PopMart Tour.  I loved PopMart, but the experience was incomplete because I didn't hear one song off the album that I listened to daily from 1993-1997.

They did play a remix of Lemon, so it wasn't completely ignored.

I'm kind of surprised they didn't play 'Numb' on that tour.  I think it would have worked well with the whole PopMart setup.

Nope, they played the perfecto remix of Lemon at Popmart Mexico.
