They did it at all three shows I've seen. Gothenburg 1, Helsinki 1 and Paris 1. In Helsinki 1 the people in the pit also did a Mexican Wave. Not as successful but made some time go by.

Yep! Helsinki 1 & 2.

The wave kept going on for a really long time on the first night due to technical problems with the screen.

Just back from Seville and Coimbra # 1 gigs and both the Spanish and Portugeese were both doing plenty of mexican waves.
Allthough the Portugeese did it more often, and definitely more enthusiastically.

Forgive me, is there a difference btween a Mexican Wave & a regular wave? 

The phrase originated from the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.  Nobody did the circular wave during concerts or sporting events in Britain before then, hence it's known as a 'mexican wave'.
