Your Favorite Live U2 Moments?
« on: October 13, 2010, 05:43:49 PM »
I personally thought the transition between I'll Go Crazy and Sunday Bloody Sunday on the Rose Bowl DVD is the coolest thing i've seen U2 do live.

So why not post yours?

That transition is amazing!

My favorite transition this tour is Amazing Grace or Rain into Streets.  Heart stopping, spine tingling.

I have a tie for favorite live moment.  The first moment is when Bono opens up his jacket towards the end of Streets during the halftime show of Super Bowl 36.  That whole performance was so memorable, but seeing the American flag stitched into Bono's jacked was so touching.

The second moment is again in New Orleans, but this time at the reopening of the Superdome with Green Day.  The scintilating performance of The Saints are Coming, featuring Bono's improved lyrics of "Singing like birds in the magnolia trees.  Child on a rooftop, mama on her knees.  Her sign reads "Please, I AM AN AMERICAN!!!", was unbelieveable.  Then the repeated cries of "The Saints...are Coming.  The Saints...are Coming" transitions BEAUTIFULLY into "Crescant City right in front of you.  Birds sing in broken trees.  They're coming home to New Orleans.  Lower 9th will rise again.  Above the waters of Lake Ponchatrain.  See the bird with a leaf in her mouth.  After the flood, all the colors caaaame outtttt.  IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL DAYYYYYYY"  Then into a fiery rendition of Beautiful Day's chorus and final verse that helped bring some joy back to a city filled with sorrow.  Two of the best U2 moments right there.  The music was incredible, but when you factor in all of the extenuating circumstances, these performances stepped it up to an entirely new level that a song performed at a regular concert can't reach

Any time Bono channels the spirit of Pavarotti. I don't know how he pulls it off EVERY time.

And I always get transported to another dimension with the end guitar riff for Mysterious Ways. I like it even better with what Adam is doing with the bass line now; it's a shame that people are so focused on how the solo is gone and they are missing Adam's awesome bass part.

Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car, MacPhisto speech, Lemon, and With Or Without You on the ZooTV Sydney DVD.

Streets from Slane Castle.

For me personally, Your Blue Room live as well as Stay acoustic in Toronto. Moment of Surrender closer in Toronto as well as Crazy Tonight remix also in Toronto (it's the only show I've been to). Crowd really got into Crazy Tonight.

The Unforgettable Fire was pretty special live as well.

Stay this year in Croke park.......My spine actually tingled....Bono couldnt introduce unknown caller cos the crowd kept singing the "oh oh OHHHHHHH oh o oh" part...was amazing.

Or the Edge going mental on the electric co. solo in 2005.
or any version of ultraviolet thats been played
Anytime they play streets

Actually, come to think of it.....the effect a u2 gig has on you is incredible....no wonder they're so big headed
