I'll take the second... just because of McPhisto!  :)
(Also the screens, the stage, and the "theatrical aspect" improved quite a bit in that time lapse)

MacPhisto sang Desire & Ultraviolet on the European Zooropa tour.

I wasn't aware that the stage changed during the tour.

Zoomerang remains the most unique, and the only time we will hear those songs live. Those songs suited Mr Mac and the Zoo a little better I think.

I thought by "Original ZooTV" you meant the first legs, when it was still called ZooTV.
McPhisto wasn't there, and the stage was pretty bare, compared with Zooropa & Zoomerang.
(by the end of the tour, there were more screens, with much better resolution, and the stage was a lot bigger)

Now I understand you were talking about Zooropa, TD.

Bad, Desire & Ultraviolet were performed on Zoo TV, Outside Broadcast and Zooropa.

The question relates to the songs, regardless of whether Mirror Ball Man or MacPhisto was singing them.

I still don't know how the Zoo TV stage set changed during the course of the tour. ???

Fair enough... the question was quite clear. It was the "topic title" which confused me...

Anyway, if it's about "songs fitting the ZooTV setlist", I still prefer the second option.
Those songs were much more representative of the ZooTV spirit, than the first three.

If we're just talking about the music, or in other words "which songs are better", then it's option #1.
But then you're just measuring songs against each other, and the topic title is misleading, mate.

About the stage, what I meant is that if you watch any performance from the first leg,
after having seen the Sidney DVD, you'd probably think: "OMG, they've been robbed!".  :D
Like I said, it was pretty bare, for the first shows. By the end of the tour (and of course it has
a lot to do with going from arenas to stadiums) the stage was pretty much "filled" with stuff
(big screens, little screens, ramps, scaffolding, etc).

I've just watched the Zoo TV Outside Broadcast from Yankee Stadium and the Sydney DVD and I still can't see how the stage is any different. ???

Hey Dice, tell me more about the Yankee Stadium show. Is it a pro-shot bootleg you saw or what?

I wish they would have abandoned songs other than Ultra Violet, Desire and Bad to make way for the Zooropa tracks.
