Soo s'dey from Cambodia
« on: December 21, 2010, 08:13:59 AM »
Hi everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself.  I'm from California, living in Cambodia, been a fan for a decade, just got back from the 1st Perth show.  Fabulous way to send out 2010!!!

Some of my favorite songs are Running to Stand Still, Love Rescue Me, Moment of Surrender, One Step Closer, Out of Control- the ones with lyrics that punch me in the gut and/or heart.  Not that I don't love the loud rock songs & the drums & guitars- AAHH!  I love their music!  I don't have a favorite album.  Well, I do, but it changes from day to day.

The other day I was walking down the street here & Stranger in a Strange Land came on the mp3 player- it was perfect:

"But that's a long way here
Oh, and I wish you were here
Oh, and I wish you were here

Stranger, stranger in a strange land
He looked at me like I was the one who should run"

Before I went to Perth, I had to go to the ATM to get $$$, y'know, to go to Perth, & MOS was on, at the ATM part & I had to laugh because it was so apt.  It makes the world seem incredibly small when you think that an American in Cambodia is listening to a song by an Irish guy that may or may not have been written in Morocco.  And the lyrics just fit- exactly what I was doing, feeling, etc.

"I was punching in the numbers
At the ATM machine
I could see in the reflection
A face staring back at me
At the moment of surrender
Of vision over visibility
I did not notice the passers-by
And they did not notice me"

I have a least favorite album: October (d&r?!?!?).  I've just never gotten into it.  Least favorite song: Wild Honey.  I will never like that song.  It's just not possible!
