in fact the whole concert is pre-recorded (in some way) except Bono's vocals.

That's not true. There are some backing tracks for many songs, but to say the "whole concert" is prerecorded sort of overstates the fact.

Also, the earpieces are monitors so the band can hear what they are playing. Their amplifiers are not actually that loud, but run through a PA system that faces the sudience. Many bands use earpieces for monitors.

Thanks for straightening that out for us Cisco. In-ear monitors and click tracks are not pre-recorded shows.
