Yeah, I'm surprised they never had their own channel, even for a month or two. But back in summer 2015, you could catch Song for Someone on every channel, from 1st wave to Classic Rewind, even Elvis Radio. That was clearly "paid for" by the band.

Speaking of XM, how is it that Bon Jovi gets their own station, Pearl Jam has one, Grateful Dead has one, Springsteen has one, even Ariana Grande is getting her own next year, but U2 still don't have one? They've got a deep enough discography plus lots of archived concerts to warrant it.

1st Wave plays a fair amount of U2, they played Where The Streets Have No Name last night. I've also heard Horses on Lithium before.

The band has to give permission to have a channel dedicated. Possibly has to give up royalties too, but I don't know the actual logistics on that. I miss the Pink Floyd channel.

They probably have never thought they needed one.

Yep, I believe it would be licensing that they'd have to agree to. They probably wouldn't have to give up royalties, per say, except for those on that particular station. U2 have been a bit cautious with their licensing--it took 7 years for their music to make it into the Rock Band game and even then, only 10 songs are available as of today.

Then again, Tom Petty was notoriously anti-commercialization of his music, but finally changed his mind and allowed his songs to be released for RB AND currently has his own XM station. So that gives me hope that U2 might consider it.

These channels also tend to play artists that were influences on or influenced by the band/artist--so there'd be plenty of music to play on a U2 station.

we must listen to the same channels... I have Lithium, Spectrum and 1stWave as my 3 semi-dedicated music stations.

I got Streets on 1st Wave the other day, followed, amusingly, by M's Pop Muzik...
