I'm not really sure there is too much "disdain" over IALW.
I think it could just be Droo being very loud.

Just came home from La Plata. Personally, I love IALW and it was really well received by the crowd. Probably the fact that the intro is not so loud helps to hear the people cheering but still, it was one of the highlights of the show.

Even U2Gigs says "blech" to its inclusion in the setlist. :P

-songs that are not really full-band songs with full-length (Stingray, MLK, or Scarlet) so they don't really "count"

Don't count?

Haha.

'these tracks don't go along with my theory, therefore they don't count'.

What about North Star as well? Also Mothers?

There are a lot of 'great hits' in the setlist, but it isn't a greatest hits tour yet. Even without IALW.

IALW isn't a terrible song, but I do wish they kept the pace a bit more at 360. Seems lacking in energy at times.

it's just a middle of the road filler track. nothing special about it at all, it's a song they should of forgotten about the day the Elevation tour ended. and i love the atyclb album.

If "In A Little While" was not on the set, we would have essentially a Greatest Hits tour.

We should be thankful that the song is saving the 360 Tour from that tag.

Cheers,

J

i'm not thankful at all. it's mediocre on the album, horrible waste of 3 minutes at a u2 gig though. it really dampens the mood. ialw, along with miss sarajevo, remove any momentum that builds up in the show. i really love miss sarajevo, as a recorded piece, but i feel it doesn't translate well to a live setting. apart from bono's pavorotti bit, i don't think it has a place at all on 360.

I used to really like In A Little While before the 360 tour. :D I still enjoy it, but...I think it's the type of song that does not age well in a live setting. I feel that in this tour it's been exhausted to the point where it has started to become (to fans at least) much more resented than it would have been. I suppose it's not as enduring a song as it takes for people to want to see it again and again. Of course, a big part of it might be our own fault for following the setlist so devotedly.  ;D

I am probably in the minority (once again :D) but I happen to love this song. I think I may have mentioned this before - perhaps it  is indeed a band favorite because Bono sings about missing and coming home to Ali. It was also the song Joey Ramone played in his last days before he passed away from cancer. Bono (and U2) were big fans of The Ramones. I believe Bono was there to help them get inducted into the R and R Hall of Fame if I am not mistaken. I believe these may be 2 valid reasons why this comes up often in their set list. Sometimes artists play what is special to them regardless of what fans think or how many records it sold. As a U2 fan, I am ok with that even if it is a song I don't care for.

Why the disdain? I have no idea. I think it is a lovely song. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but so what. I don't care for Bullet the Blue Sky  :D

I think MS is splendid on the 360 Tour, especially with that Fez/Zooropa interlude. Now if they could only find a song to play after it that bleeds out of it well, unlike CoBL.

I agree with Brandon Flowers on this. In A Little While is one of their greatest. Took me a while to see it because it doesn't jump out at you but then it just clicked. It's right up there in my favorite non singles with UTEOTW and UV. I'm very pleased to see it in the set lists but they didn't play it my night.... they also didn't play UTEOTW.... grrrrrr.

I used to quite like it. It doesn't suit a stadium atmosphere even slightly though, it's clearly the weakest song in the set and it should simply NOT be a regular. If it was being played in rotation, on occasion, in an arena, I'd be perfectly happy. But every single night in a stadium? It does not belong there.

My friend just told me that Bono said this is the song that was playing when Joey Ramone passed away. Wow! I'd say that is quite a good reason why it may be so special to the band if this is true.
