I used to quite like it. It doesn't suit a stadium atmosphere even slightly though, it's clearly the weakest song in the set and it should simply NOT be a regular. If it was being played in rotation, on occasion, in an arena, I'd be perfectly happy. But every single night in a stadium? It does not belong there.

Exactly, its an arena song.  Not a stadium song.  PERFECT song for the Elevation Tour, not for this one

My friend just told me that Bono said this is the song that was playing when Joey Ramone passed away. Wow! I'd say that is quite a good reason why it may be so special to the band if this is true.

Yes, this is what rocketed this song into Bono's adoration.

I wish he had been listening to something else. :P

As a huge Ramones fan,  I cannot argue with Bono on this one  :D  It became even more special to me after I learned all about this.      RIP Joey Ramone.

The studio version is fine, but I have yet to understand why it's played every single night.

A little song called Stay would fit perfectly in that spot, or they could bring back Your Blue Room.

This is perfect in the stadium setting.

Any of you saw the Rose Bowl DVD?

After all the industrial and pink noise from the loud and rocking Elevation which gets the crowd jumping through the whole song, the noise suddenly stops and the opening guitar riff of the song is played.

It's a nice contrast to the song before it and gives the crowd some moments to rest.

When the noise suddenly stopped and the opening guitar notes were played, the crowd went crazy.

Cheers,

J

pink? awkward contrast to Elevation. song shouldn't of made it past the Elevation tour.

Why couldn't Rattle And Hum have been playing when Joey passed into the next world?

Just have to say - people question why it is played every night - it's because it's the part of the show with the spaceman video - it was put in the setlist to be a permenant part of the show and I would bet that it's gonna be there until the end of the tour because I can't see them cutting that section of the show.

Your Blue Room had the spaceman video first. It turned out to be far from permanent.

Was Your Blue Room in the position of Miss Sarajevo, though? I assumed it was.

No, Your Blue Room was played in 8th position, now held by ISHFWILF. Miss Sarajevo took The Unforgettable Fire's place. Given the space video and Frank speaking, regardless of numerical position it's undeniable that IALW took its place.

In effect, IALW really replaces both Your Blue Room (spaceman) AND Stay/Stuck (acoustic song).
