"Purple Rain," if only to hear The Edge do the guitar part at the end -- I think Prince's guitar at the end would be great for The Edge.

Come See About Me - The Supremes. Greg Dulli covered it and it was dark (I love it). I want to see what Bono would do with it!

Under The Milky Way - The Church (God, that would pi*s OFF Steve Kilbey. Which would also be fun.)

Alas, I don't think The Edge has the skill to do it justice.

None. I go to U2 concerts to hear them play songs of theirs I love, not someone else's stuff.

Bye Bye Baby by the Bay City Rollers!

I'm sure it would be awful, but it would be great to hear once given its significance!

The End, by The Doors

Good choice. There are several Doors songs I'd like to hear them cover. Another good one would be Five To One.

Also:

Sun Is Shining--Bob Marley

Grace, Too--The Tragically Hip

If they ever make a covers album, which I hope they wait with very long, they should include a lesser known 70s era Tom Waits song that has not yet been covered.

In general, in a covers album they should only include songs that have not yet been covered and are lesser known tunes. It's still hard for me to think of "Everlasting Love" as a U2 song because it just is not.

However, wouldn't it be fun if U2 rickrolled the audience at a concert by playing a cover of "Never Gonna Give You Up"?

Race for the Surprise by Flaming Lips

You mean Race for the Prize, and yes that would be amazing. IF they could do it justice. Which I'm not so sure of.
