The Grammy's....this performance feels important.
« on: February 08, 2009, 01:53:16 PM »
It might just be me, but as I listen to "boots" on my ipod (repeatedly) I wonder what people are going to think of the performance tonight.  I feel nervous for them......I have no idea why.  I just want them to bring the house down and make every act sitting in the audience think...."shi&, we gotta follow that?"  It feels like an important performance.....Boots definitely has it's critics.  This is a new chapter for the band, one which seems headed in the right direction.  I hope they blow the doors off the place.

I'm a little worried after the reports that rehearsal didn't go well.

I totally agree, maybe the nerves come from the fact that it doesn't come across as a straight forward song to play. But I have total faith in them and after such a long time away I'm positive they will mark their return with a blazing set !

There's a saying "Bad rehearsal usually means a great performance." Let's hope!  :)

Is that really a saying, or did you just make that up to make us all feel better?

That really is a saying!

I hope it goes well too. The live premiere of Boots on national television! I'd have major butterflies if I were them!

I think Bono will be extremely nervous as tonight/today is the first step on U2 reapplying to be the best band in the world.

Please don't let him (Bono) start saying this again.   :'(

Not to knock Coldplay right now but I do hope they sound awesome enough to make Coldplay shift in their seats a little. That is all I am saying right now. They need to prove it again they deserved all those 22 grammys and the ones to come next year.....and they can do it ...even with the eyeliner...:)

Yeah, this performance really needs to scream "We're back!" but not make everyone think "Why?!?"

It's real. I've done a bit of performing in theatre and operas. We would say that from time to time. After people rehearse the same thing over and over it can get a little frustrating and you lose focus, and you need an audience to turn the electric energy on. It usually works out great. But, if it's a problem with sound perhaps that's a matter not entirely in U2's control. It's the Sound Engineer perhaps in this case. He needs to understand what the band are going for. I DO HOPE IT'S GREAT!!!

It really is important. A five year hiatus and other bands getting a lots of time in the limelight. They need to wow everyone to really make a big impact, as well as saying to fans they're going for the gold again.

Bono will spin some line at the end of it to incorporate “Let me in the Sound” into “Let me in the Grammys”.
