Poll: Has U2 360 Become A Nostalgia Tour
« on: June 08, 2011, 07:20:22 PM »
The 360 tour started out in 2009 heavily promoting their latest album, NLOTH; playing 7 songs from it; and opening the show with four new songs.

Has the tour since evolved into a nostalgia tour, much like Vertigo before it?

What the better question is what a Nostagia tour would look like?

Well, Miami666, an act can still play a few new songs during the course of a show and it will still be a nostalgia tour.  The Stones do it all the time.

Yep. Nostalgic for 2009.

Well, Tumbling Dice, to me a "Nostalgia Tour" would be a themed tour. Like ZOOTV 2010 or Back To Love Town 2009. or a tour where they play whole albums front to back. Of course to each their own. :)

The one thing that is getting lost in the shuffle as everyone is making "Greatest Hits" comments is that this tour is almost 2 years old. I for one am lucky to be seeing them for the 3rd time this tour in July (NJ). If they were still jamming NLOTH tunes, I'd be asking for Greatest Hits. NLOTH had its part of 360....what they are doing right now is welcome in my eyes. If we see 4 more surprises before the end I'll be a happy man!

Zoo TV kept 8 songs from Achtung Baby, 2 years into the tour.

Good point but honestly, you can't put NLOTH in the same arena with what some (not me) people view as U2's best album to date. But good point nonetheless.

Many of those Achtung baby songs were global radio hits.  They didn't play much Zooropa until Australia/NZ.

No.  Its basically impossible to be nostalgic about songs that have rarely/never been played before like Zooropa, Scarlet, Miss Sarajevo, Ultraviolet, HMTMKMKM, as well as the NLOTH songs.

But it definitely includes almost entirely older songs bygone eras. The Unforgettable Fire, Your Blue Room, HMTMKMKM, Ultraviolet, Zooropa (that feels so weird to type seriously), Scarlet, Out Of Control, snippets of Discotheque, Please, and A Day Without Me.
