A huge production like 360 or ZooTv with very little wiggle room in the setlist or a scaled back tour with a different setlist every night, but risk songs like WTSHNN and other fan favorites not being in the set?

Actually, if you read U2 Show it covers why there's little wiggle room in the set for variation in the setlists and inserting additional tunes and improvisations into the songs.

From the time of Elevation on, the band has used a complex grid system to choreograph and time lighting and everything else. Failure to adhere to the grid system and say sing songs past their allotted time throws the whole show off.

Daniel Lanois talks about it in the book. He felt the grid system was overly complex for Elevation and it stifled and muffled the live experience too much. No room to go out and explore and create during a show(not sure U2 is very good at live improvisations anyway but Lanois certainly is). He was invited to perform during one of the shows and had a talk with the band about it. He wanted them to get off the grid more when playing live.

I much prefer a scaled down tour.  I go see U2 for the music, not for the production and special effects.

I think most people go for the music. The problem is I think the band like the technology and gadgets. It's not the fans but the band.

I prefer an Elevation (indoor) type production, preferably in-the-round.  Basically, what U2 360 could have been if they had decided to play an arena tour.

Well I prefer a huge production with varying setlists.

I'll never get it though.  :D

You want them to copy mattressjedi who wanted them to copy Prince but didn't know he wanted them to?  ;D

Ive already stated my wishes:

A mix of theatres, arenas, and stadiums like The Stones' Licks tour. But all arena and stadium shows in the round. Theatres as a warm up. Day of announcement of the theatre shows. Maybe 2 months of shows in USA and Europe for theatres. Then worldwide for arenas/stadiums for in the round shows. Go everywhere. I mean it!

Singapore. Phillipines. So. Korea. Middle East. Africa. Belarus, Ukraine, etc.
If you haven't been there yet, GO!

A handful of cities with multi-night stands in arenas only. So some cities would have only one stadium show and multi arena nights.

Close with a 2 week stand at Royal Albert Hall.

I suspect you will get your wish of at least arenas to start off.

They should play a scaled-back show at my house, playing whatever songs I ask them to.  :)

I just want to see them. And if I don't get Streets, I'd wonder if I'd gotten the wrong band!

I just want to see them

In the end, thats all I really want too.  I think people who don't see them because they aren't playing in a certain type of venue are crazy, selfish, and need to look at their fandom in the mirror
