Propaganda?
« on: June 20, 2011, 04:22:19 AM »
I've seen this mentioned on this forum and U2gigs over the past few days. From what I understand it was some sort of U2 website/magazine. Am I right in saying that, or was it more than that. And any particular reason why it is no longer around.

Propaganda was the official fan club in the pre-internet days. It began in the mid-80s and continued until the launch of U2.com which replaced it in the early 2000's.

Members recieved a magazine with the same title, and various other benefits such as the remix album "Melon".

You can get a great hardback which collects the Propaganda stuff into one book - it's a great read.

Isn't this a Best Of? Afaik, it's not all in there.

I bought some issues on ebay from the Pop era. Love them. (Was too young, mom didn't wanna send out $20 to someone in a foreign land.....)

The should bring it back. That would be something worth $50, these two mags each year....

I hadn't realised they'd published that - Thanks Bads316!

It does appear to be a "best of", and is currently out of print. However, there seems to be a few copies available online at reasonable prices... so I figured I may as well order one and enjoy a trip down memory lane :)

One thing that was cool about Propaganda was they provided concert tickets tickets by mail at least a couple of times.  Ah, those were the pre-Internet days.
