grammys. bono sings USA national anthem at beginning of boots
« on: February 09, 2009, 05:37:50 AM »
during the intro of the song, bono hums a snippet of the us national anthem. the biggest hint yet that "boots" is directed at the US. the line "get on your boots" is asking america to get back to having a better influence in the world. "you don't know how beautiful you are", encapsulating america's current lack of confidence on the world stage, especially after the iraq/afghanistan fiascos. america needs to unveil it's beauty to the world again is what i think bono's trying to say(that's my take on it all anyway!!).

I thought that myself last night.  I didn't hear him humming or singing any snippets of the Anthem however - had I heard it that would have solidified my thoughts even further.  IMO.

IMHO its pretty obvious in the video that when the "you dont know how beautiful you are" portion plays, the US flag is in the background.

bono definitely does hum (loudly) part of the U.S. national anthem near the start before he starts singing. check it out on youtube. about 19 seconds in:

I thought it was some random skat singing he was doing.

Absolutely.  No doubt.  I listened to it again and it stood out.  Funny I didn't notice it at the time.  I agree, I thought it was just a little skat he was doing until you pointed it out.  It's bloody obvious now.

I had to listen three times to hear it. Now it seems obvious, especially with the American flag on the screen! I think it sounded really cool.

for a while I thought it was Hey Jude.....check out those lyrics...kind of hints to letting the song 'grow' on you and get under your skin...but I couldn't really hear it very well and now it is gone. But I guess it is for sale at Itunes now

LOL. Gloat away, Silverbad. If no one will blow your trumpet for you, blow the damned thing yourself, that's what I say.  :D

ahh.  6 months ago America was the great infidel.  and now we elect someone new as President and suddenly we are everyone's favorite again.

pathetic.
