Bono Please No More Snippets!
« on: July 11, 2011, 09:45:27 AM »
Anyone else think Bono is getting way too carried away with the snippets on each show?  ::)

Jeez, we could have 1 maybe two songs extra in the setlist, if it was'nt for all these boring self indulgencies (with the exception of Shine Like Stars of course)  ;D

Rant over, i feel for better that, i just had to get it off my chest, its been bothering me since the start of 360 tour Lol!

I disagree, I like the snippets. In my opinion they add to the songs and bring more to the show than to just hear Bono recite the verses that everyone already knows.

I don't mind snippets but I must confess, I think Bono is getting carried away with it too to be very honest.

Oh come on!

Bono has been doing snippets for over 25 years! That's what makes it interesting.

Yes , I know he has. Sometimes if you have too much ice cream , you get a belly ache  :D :D  I do like snippets but it has been a long tour so I guess I had enough of so many. Doing an unexpected song would be a bit more interesting to me but I don't want to whine  ;) :D :D

I like the snippets, without them U2 songs like Discotheque, The Wanderer, In God's Country, Arms Around the World and One Tree Hill (which thanks to the crowd in Chicago morphed into a full song) may not even see the light of day.

Plus the Non-U2 snippets add depth to a song, like the codas for One and WOWY.

I agree the snippits are sometimes windows into the meaning of the song that isn't on the surface, these can be u2 or non-u2 snippits.  ex(MOS rap or Stand by Me after ISHFWILF)

They're becoming boring and losing any novelty value that they might've once possessed.

I'd like the 'band' to snippet other songs, musically, like Prince does all the time.  But that would require a bit of effort from the band.

One of the things I'm most bemused about on this forum is the excitement that some people on this forum express when Bono sings (or speaks) a few words from another song during a song's performance.

Perhaps if he mixed up the snippets instead of doing the same ones.  He apparently loves to use the end of Beautiful Day for random snippets, so you can bet your money there will always be a snippet at the end of this song.

I like the snippet where he starts to sing Discotheque and then suddenly starts singing five different snippets and and then they start Sunday Bloody Sunday.

I'm not sure if he did that at the Baltimore show.  Bathroom break and water refill.
