Oh, Bono said "Turn the lights off, Willie"

There's your snippet.

I think Elevation should be a snippet. (Even though I love a song)

to the creator of this thread... I totally agree! I've been saying this for quite some time, although when I was actually at the concert it didn't really bug me. It does bug me though when I look at a setlist thread and I see a snippet behind every other song! They're just kind of silly I think

I thought the Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World snippet in Mysterious Ways was great, and the closest we're ever going to get to this song being performed live again.

Oh come on!

Bono has been doing snippets for over 25 years! That's what makes it interesting.

Exactly, why would he change now? Take Bad , the live versions of that song are defined by the snippets he uses.

I'll agree, that snippet worked very well. I guess I like when they snippet themselves, but when I go to a u2 concert and get about 5 covers (albeit snippetted covers) it seems weird

I'm not sure if he did that at the Baltimore show.  Bathroom break and water refill.
Yes, he did... the snippets in Crazy were Discotheque and that song that goes "This ain't no disco, this ain't no party..." I really like the way it went lyrcially into Sunday Bloody Sunday.

Okay... for snippets in general, I don't like that they're planned to be sung. Of course if we didn't follow setlists we might never know that! But it bugs me that they're rehearsed. I guess I feel like they could rehearse a full song to replace a snippet with (like Discotheque).

That said, some snippets are wonderful! Like Unchained Melody in One, which unfortunately isn't used anymore.

The way I see it is that snippets don't really take anything away and some people like them, so what's the issue?

I like the snippets, without them U2 songs like Discotheque, The Wanderer, In God's Country, Arms Around the World and One Tree Hill (which thanks to the crowd in Chicago morphed into a full song) may not even see the light of day.

Plus the Non-U2 snippets add depth to a song, like the codas for One and WOWY.

Very good point in defense of the snippets.

Then go see Pink Floyd. IF they were touring.

They don't snippet sh**! Except a few chords from Ohio when they played in Ohio
