Show some love for the only October song people  ;D

1. With A Shout
2. Stay (Faraway, So Close!)

3. Original Of The Species
4. Desire

I don't think I've ever voted for any October song. None of the songs beat any other ones in most polls like this.

I voted for Tomorrow and Scarlet is guaranteed to receive my vote when it turns up unless there's something truly stunning in the rest of the group.

Well, THAT was a mistake! I didn't vote for Desire thinking it would be top 2 already. LOVE that song! Ugh!

Uh oh! SATS is also not where it should be! And, I wasn't going to agonize over my voting. Yet, I still am, just after not before.  :(

Let that be a lesson to you!

You must remember, a lot of the kids on here don't recollect Desire from the good old days when The Edge's red guitar really was on fire, and they just think of Desire as a song that he messes about on with an acoustic guitar during a lull in a concert.  :(

If there was any justice, Desire would be firmly in second place by now.

Desire on Lovetown and Zoo TV should have automatically granted it a spot here.

One featuring Edge shredding, YES shredding, on a solo at the end.

The other changed the song completely, Mirrorball Man at the helm.  :)

Oh, so you do recollect.  But then, you always were wise beyond your years, Midnight.

I blame PopMart, that was when the rot set in.

Even the acoustic on popmart wasn't bad. Having both Bono and Edge on guitar was interesting.

What sucks was that they never did go back to the original electric mix. They did for a performance or two, but it's never been the same since then.

And I've always been pro 90s, you know that  :D

Yeah, they've had 3 tours to revisit the song the way it was meant to be played, but they've chosen the easy route of acoustic schmoostic every time.  It's just laziness, plain and simple.

The great thing about the studio version though, is it sounds 'live'.

Did they record the studio version in Point Depot or something like that?

I agree that electric Desire is vastly better (Although I still didn't vote for it).

That said, the idea that they don't play electric Desire due to 'laziness' is inane. It's not exactly the most difficult song in the world, certainly not compared to some that they do play, and would require zero extra effort. For whatever God forsaken reason, the band apparently prefer playing it this way, unfortunately for all of us.
