"Please" is far too over-rated on this forum  ::)

Have you seen the live MTV Awards show version? I think it's from 1997? You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login NOT overrated!!

I never said that Please isn't a good song, it is just over-rated by people on this forum. It isn't anywhere near as good as the songs that I chose yet it still gets hyped up to be better than them by some people. Yes that version is incredible, but it cannot compare to the sheer passion that Bono puts into Sometimes, Adam gives us on Magnificent, Edge on Acrobat or Larry on TUF.

Please is a fantastic song, but it isn't as fantastic as some others.

O, P, I, N, I, O, and N!

That spells opinion!

I consider Please 3x better than Sometimes, and 2x better than Magnificent.

It's my opinion.

You can spell it out all you want but it won't stop people from disagreeing with you. I think Please is definitely in the top half of all of U2's songs, but because I find some songs better I get murdered for my opinion.

Please is a great song of that there is no doubt, but for people to turn round and say that it isn't over-rated is ludicrous in my book.

It's the same with people saying that One or Bad is over-rated. How can you over-rate such a monumental song? Please is over-rated to me because it isn't as good as One or Bad, yet people somehow consider it to be up their with U2's finest work.

My only reason for clearly stating that my view on Please was an opinion is because the way you wrote how you believed Please was overrated made it seem like you thought your view should be viewed as the "right" decision, when there is no right or wrong.

Listening to the single version of Please for the first time revolutionized my appreciation for the song.  8)

I have that one in place for the album version.  :)

The buildup starting with the "September, streets capsizing," line is even more impressive in that version.

Where The Streets Have No Name is the most overrated U2 song of all.

Opinion. I personally think Acrobat is the most overrated U2 song of them all.

Yeah, my version of Pop includes the single 'strings' version.  Much more dramatic, funkier and groovier.

I don't know why.  Streets will do better in this tourny than Acrobat, so I think Streets is the more overrated.

How is Bad a monumental song? It wasn't a single. Outside of hardcore U2 fans, most people I've spoken to have no idea what Bad is.

It earned its place in folklore through the performance at LiveAid.

It was performed at both my U2 shows and I think it's up there with The Fly and UTEOTW as a song I'd want at my next U2 show.

+1

The performance at Glastonbury was an indication that this song shows no signs of slowing down.

I hope not. The song's long enough as it is. ;)

What was the reaction to Bad at Glastonbury? It was about as casual an audience as you can get.

It went down very well at LiveAid with a very casual global audience of 2 billion.

Not my question. U2 had no huge worldwide hits in 1984. They do now. How was its response at Glastonbury in 2011? If the song is this juggernaut you claim it to be, then it should receive a Streets level response, no?

What's the date or stage of their career got to do with anything?

I don't know what the response to Streets was at Glastonbury, so how can I compare.

Wouldn't you be better off asking that question to someone who isn't a hardcore U2 fan?

It was probably the hit of the night with the crowd singing endlessly after the band had finished performing it.
