I don't understand how Drowning Man can be 'underrated'; it is constantly cited as the best song on War and has been a major fan favourite at least since 2009 rehearsals, to my continual confusion given that it's one of the worst tracks on U2's first three albums... [/personaldislike]

Somebody called it underrated?

It's an underrated gem if anything.

It's an underrated gem if anything. It's also one of those few early songs (Tomorrow too) that really breaks away from the angry, confused, young rebellious post punk stuff and shines a light on the road ahead. It would also comfortably fit on any album and not seem out of place.

It can't be that underrated because it looks like its booked a spot in the last 32.

Even England managed that.

Nobody could accuse the England team of being an 'underrated gem'.:D

... and yes, it is underrated, outside of here I've never heard anything about it, and even that seemed to come duly after Adam citing it as his favourite U2 song. It's stock has considerably risen the last few years though, no doubt. Same goes for The First Time.

I wonder why that is for The First Time?

But it is funny how Scarlet has grown in popularity since it's play on 360...

That's what happens when million of folk hear a song they previously didn't know existed.

No offence to Scarlet lovers, but I find it just to be a segue like Stingray was. The only addition is "Rejoooice!"

No, it's a song, unlike Stingray, because Bono sings in it.  Although it was used as a bridge between SBS and Walk On.  Very nicely done too, I might add.

How about the times where he didn't sing rejoice?

I don't know, I didn't attend all the shows.

I mean could you consider it a song if he didn't sing in it?

Oh I see.  No, then it would be an instrumental.  But NOT a Mickey Mouse one.

Do you not consider MLK a song? It's similar to Scarlet in that it's a short transitional song. Even on the albums on which both songs appear.

It's inclusion on the Best Of probably, it gave it fresh light rather than just being that slow quiet one from near the end of Zooropa. It's frikkin genius is what it is.

Don't go blaming Drowning Man. Blame I-Pods, Batman and Aung San Suu Kyi, it's all their fault.
