Opposite for me actually. I like both, but Please rules.  :D

Kite easily beats the much-too-loved Please for me.

Both are great, but the emotional side of Kite wins hands down against Please.

Studio versions are far from equal and PopMart Please was the highlight of the entire show.

Just as Kite at Slane was the highlight of that show.

Why in the heck is it this close?!?

Because half the voters don't understand lyrical genius (Please) when they see it.

A person can twist any ambiguous lyric to fit whatever interpretation they want it to fit. Please doesn't move me one iota. It certainly isn't on the same level as Kite, one of U2's finest lyrical works of the 00s.

I know, that's what I tell people who think Kite is about anything besides kite-flying.

Boom Cha!

Please just looked so boring live.  And to me, it was a crappy lead-in to a crappy techno version of Streets.  Kite on the other hand, is just filled with so much personal, raw emotion and looked captivating live.  And the Vertigo version of Kite was spectacular.

Please, boring live? Huh?  :o

Also, Please is nothing but raw emotion.

I like Please but Bono sounds better on Kite. I know he was going through throat issues during Pop, so Kite should go through for letting us all know Bono was not losing his voice.  8)

ATYCLB is vocally Bono's worst album.

I think his voice was in similar shape as it was with Pop; he just tried to do more with his voice than he was capable of on ATYCLB (eg WILATW). He was able to hit some notes he couldn't hit circa Pop at the same time however.

Agreed. Very powerful indeed. Beautiful really.

I still voted for Please.

I thought SBS was the highlight of that show.  One of the rare occasions that it was apt for U2 to perform that song.

But really, do you think Kite was the highlight of the Elevation tour?  I thought The Fly was, along with UTEOTW.  Both AB songs.

SBS is a close second for me. A very powerful performance of it, and the name-reading at the end was beautiful. But considering the emotions Bono must have been going through at the time, I'd say that Kite was way more important than SBS.

I don't think Kite was the highlight of the Elevation tour because I'd have to agree with you about UTEOTW and The Fly. Both stand-out songs performed at Boston. Kite just stole the show at Slane for me, more so than Please did on PopMart. That's why it got my vote.
