I agree that justice was done.  Magnificent doesnt do anything for me at all.  Number one:  the guitar riff is so nostalgic it sounds cut and pasted from the early 80's (it would easily sound at home on October).  Number two:  the "only leave love can leave such a mark and only love can heal such a scar" schtick is overdone.  In fact Bono wrote almost the same lyric in Grace, only he was talking about Grace and not love...but whats the difference?   And the song is Bono conversing with God or his mother, and hasnt he done that before...and better?  The whole song just reeks of the band pulling stuff from their past and re-using it.  Not an original idea in the song at all.
