Please.

Wont win. Too many younger fans who don't get what the song Please was all about.

Yes. As someone who has lived his entire life in Belfast with parents who grew up there in the 60s and 70s and who saw the figures on the cover of the Please single on the news every single day growing up, clearly I just don't understand Please as much as you. That's the only explanation for me preferring Stay while still loving Please.

Touchy, aren't we?

Can't think why I'd be touchy about the insinuation that people like me would have no idea about a song like Please, right?

Stay is much superior on record than live.

To be fair, U2 haven't done justice to Stay, live.

You know I love you TD - but seeing Stay live is the only reason why  and how I appreciate the song. If I had never seen it live, I would probably still not really enjoy it.

Gotta be Please for me. While both songs have dark subject matter, Stay presents its in a too-delicate manner - Please is much more hard-hitting.

Please. This song has great depth of emotion. And every time Bono sings it live, it's like he's crying out loud. Pleading. I love this song.

These votes are so off based on the posts I read on this forum. Where is the vote of the cultivated U2 listener?

Maybe sometimes the vote is based on a particular person's mood on the day they voted... I think that could be true for me...

True, hence today when I don't feel so hot and I'm cranky. Watch out board!  :P

I have such a difficult time choosing between these songs - ASOH/UV, Bad/WOWY they each hold a special spot and evoke mega emotions and memories... Now I can't choose the Lemon/Zooropa match up. Thought I'd choose Lemon, but today...

It might not be a fair metric to use for judgment, but I often can't separate "Please" as a song from the "Please"/"Where the Streets Have No Name" pairing used during PopMart.  And for that reason alone, it absolutely annihilates "Stay (Faraway, So Close!)," even though I really, really like that song, too.
