Why U2?
« on: February 14, 2009, 07:16:44 PM »
All of this on this site are fans of U2.  Something first attracted all of us to them.  It could be from the lyrics to the style.  This is your basic, why are you a fan of U2 thread.  I'll start with this.  I heard the song ISHFWILF on the Joshua tree.  I was in a bad place and that song really spoke to me about being patient.  After that, I had to find more of the lyrics.  How about you guys?

I was unintentionally groomed by my older brothers and sisters. Live Aid hooked me and Self Aid reeled me in.

I laid eyes on the cover of War. The first song I ever heard by them was New Years Day.

Vertigo Tour - São Paulo, Brazil

The songs were so catchy and well-crafted. The show was epic (like pretty much every U2 show is). :D
It was love at first sight. ;D

My dad played Bomb in the car, and City of Blinding Lights was the greatest thing I'd ever heard.

I used to absolutely hate U2 and I'd even make fun of my friends who were into them. Then I heard the song "One", and I still hated them except for that song. But one night my friend invited me to a show on the ZOO TV tour as he ended up with an extra ticket. I accepted, and after seeing them live, I suddenly got U2 and slowly acquired all of their albums over the next 2 years. They're now one of my top 3 bands.
