Great performance of Mysterious Ways
« on: August 11, 2012, 08:09:32 PM »
For me the best performance of this song.
I can understand that Bono might not be able to sing it like this nowadays,  but why don''t they play the guitarsolo anymore?

I'm with you, either Dortmund or Sydney were great, I love the extended version with Edge's solo and the extra verse Bono does in falsetto.

This come a close second in my opinion. In this version Bono's attacking it like he's possessed..probably by Guinness (if you know what I mean), but it's still awesome:

I'm a bit underwhelmed by Dortmund, but that might mostly be due to the lack of professional filming and the attendant inability to focus on different band members. (That's not the videographer's fault!)

To me, the best version may well be Zoo TV Detroit 1992. It's possibly the funkiest version. In any case, at the tour level, the Zoo TV "Mysterious Ways" versions far surpass those of later tours.

Thanks! First time I saw his version.
You''re right after ZooTV performances of Mysterious Ways lost it's 'sexyness' and passion, the song needs the extended passionate vocals and the solo. The 360 version is just a mere shadow compared to the ZooTV versions.

I was at that show, about 35 feet towards stage left from the B-stage...Popmart's MW version in the same venue 5 years later was better.

No, they need to stop playing Pride, it's getting pretty stale. Mysterious Ways still had groove and sexiness to it.

For me they can stop playing Pride, Angel of Harlem, Sunday Bloody Sunday, ISHFWILF and WOWY for a while and if they're not going to at least play the solo in MW they can drop that too.

TLMB is right. Dead on right. Choose another TUF song or a pre-TUF song to replace it with, please.

Yup, I'd love to hear ASOH, Wire, Promenade, or Indian Summer Sky off TUF, but anything before TUF would be great as well.

Cool, we're on the same page, you named most songs on my "Most Wanted'' list :D
Other songs I'd love to see live; Acrobat, Drowning Man, Surrender.
