Very interesting. Contrary to what I'd have expected, his voice sounds by far the weakest in the Elevation clip.

now I know it's one night of many (and they could have used popmart sarajevo :-) ) but it was interesting. I think 360 holds up pretty well.

It is interesting. You can definately tell his voice on 360 is different then it was 20 years before, and it sounds like they've increased the volume on Edge's mike to help out.

Vertigo?

I was thinking the same thing!!

He definitely sounds better on the 360 clips than Elevation.

I think it probably depends on the performance you pick, though, too...

His voice was very rough round the Vertigo tour, and especially after, but after the surgery it became a lot smoother and likable. I found his voice unlistenable on Haiti mon Amour for example, but it got a lot better.

I bet the lessening of pain on his back made him more comfortable overall, thus translating to a smoother vocal.

I thought generally speaking it was worst on Vertigo.   Even on the worst nights on Popmart, it just sounded like it was painful for him to sing.   On Vertigo, by contrast, sometimes it was painful listening to him.

Yes, when I listened to that I wanted to sink through the floor with embarrassment as a U2 fan.

I'm sure that helped, but I suspect that he must have also been on fairly heavy-duty painkillers during that second bit of 360.   I imagine they may have had a similar effect on his voice as that
steroid stuff he took at Sarajevo...cortisone?

I think out of those examples given on the video, Bono's voice sounds the best in 2011 (360 Tour).

The Zoo TV clip sounded good though, as did the studio recording.

To be honest, I prefer Bono's voice of late though. I think it sounded great towards the end of 360.

Considerable improvement on 360 and Vertigo compared to Elevation and especially the "Bono on helium" Popmart years.

If he can keep up at this level for the next few years, we'll be good. Of course he can't sound like he did 20 years ago.

Lovetown was always the most interesting tour, it's kind of a mix between JT and Zoo TV Bono...

Vertigo tour is missing.
