It's tied as my favorite U2 album, it's the smartest album they've ever made, and Lemon is still the song in U2's catalogue most likely to make me mutter "genius" while I'm listening to it. And beyond Lemon, it's got The Wanderer and Zooropa? Brilliance.

A brilliant album made by a band at the height of their creativity. I prefer
Pop, but Thats another story.

Happy times. I remember listening to this album for the first time while holding my bundle of tour tickets for every UK Zooropa show!

Still my favourite album. I never get tired of listening to it.

It's the comparison to Zooropa that makes listening to ATYCLB and HTDAAB particularly painful to me. If it wasn't for Zooropa (and Pop), I probably wouldn't find the albums so cringe-worthy.

One of the best albums of the 90s, deserves as much as respect as Achtung Baby.

Happy birthday to Zooropa!

It always vies with Pop for title of my favourite U2 album.

Get your head out of the mud, baby.

Yay, Zooropa! One of the top five U2 albums. It was originally going to be released on June 28th, which means it would have been released three years to the day before I was born.

WOW, I met all four members of U2 four years before you were even born.

That's impressive. When and how did you meet them?

Then your mum shook your abacus and you woke up.

Sorry it may sound like a dream to you, but believe it or not, I met all the members of U2 in Cow Country Pennsylvania in August of 1992! I got my WAR T-Shirt signed by Larry and The Edge, different nights, had Adam sign a torn paper bag one night, and my sister got my Boy CD signed by Bono one afternoon.

I'm not ashamed to say this is my favorite U2 album although by just a hair over AB and JT.  Interestingly, I was a new U2 fan when the album came out (in High School).  I went to the store the day it was released to actually buy the Joshua Tree having only owned Achtung Baby at that time.  I wasn't aware there was going to be a new album, and saw it sitting out on the new release display.

Well, I didn't buy the Joshua Tree that day.  It waited while I took home what has slowly become my favorite U2 album.  The title track is quite close to being their best intro (I still give a nod to Streets) as the slow crescendo is just awesome.  I really wish U2 would start albums like they used to.  It was really epic.

I had really hoped that U2 would do something similar with the Songs of Ascent planned after NLOTH, but sadly they didn't.

Were you a very junior clerk in a firm of accountants when U2 walked through to the partner's office in search of tax advantageous advice?

I was waiting outside their hotel along with family and friends.

Tumbling Dice & bethere: I'd recommend getting the thread back on-topic now, unless you're both aiming for permanent bans.

TD, I'd also recommend you stop baiting/poking bethere. The "abacus" post above was completely unnecessary.

Quite right.  My apologies to bethere if I caused any offence.
