I tuned out on Coldplay after Viva La Vida.  Last night listened to Mylo and Ghost Stories.

Friend encouraged me to go through the rest of discography.
Mylo struck me as background music you'd hear at Banana Republic.  I was disappointed.  Seemed to be pandering for softer radio hits.  Almost like HTDAAB sans Vertigo.

Ghost Stories was more earnest as an atmospheric album.  Midnight beats anything on Mylo. I still have to listen to the last album.  Coldplay for me has dropped in quality each consecutive album through Mylo.  Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head are both classics.  Hard for me to say which is better.

yea GS is a step up, not a BIG step up, but a step up from the Top 40 desperation of MX.

spoiler. AHFOD is consistently better than MX not as many embarrassing lows, but there's nothing on it as good as Charlie Brown imo. The final track, Up & Up is good and features Noel Gallagher if that moves your needle.

Yeah MX is like somebody drained Chris Martin's testosterone and he went into the studio forgetting he was in a rock band.

Ghost Stories is meant to be atmospheric and is successful in that realm.

i will say of the past 2 albums the closest they got to Charlie Brown is Midnight, in terms of a modern Cp classic

Midnight is in the vein of some my favorites.  High Speed and X&Y (song)
