(I was planning to post this sometime tomorrow (Sunday), but I have a lot going on and may not be able to ... so I'm posting now, even though the forum is quiet on a Saturday night. Please read this, alert your forum friends to read it, etc. We consider this to be very important because it will change the way the @U2 Forum operates.)To all @U2 Forum members,
Pending some final updates and reviews, the forum moderation team is planning to
post the new Forum Rules & Guidelines on January 1, 2014. That's just a couple days away.
We've spent the better part of this month discussing what we want this forum to be in 2014 and beyond. We've solicited your input (You are not allowed to view links.
Register or
Login). We've reviewed the rules and guidelines in use at some of the web's biggest and most popular forums. And we've written a new document that we expect will bring out the best in this community and minimize the worst.
If I had to sum up the future of this forum in two words, it's this:
civil discussion. The new rules and guidelines put a premium on civility, maturity and respect. We expect everyone here to value this forum as if you owned it yourself, and to value every other member that uses the forum.
We intend to build and improve the sense of community that should exist in this forum, and the moderation team will be ruthless in enforcing the new rules and guidelines. If you can't participate the way we expect all members to participate, you'll have to find other forums to use.
Again, look for the new rules and guidelines to be posted sometime on January 1st. Your continued use of the forum after the new rules are posted will constitute your understanding and acceptance of those rules.
Thanks for reading,
Matt & the moderators
