New song during Super Bowl
« on: January 10, 2014, 01:13:10 PM »
Not sure if this is posted elsewhere but after hearing Ordinary Love on the radio today(twice actually), the DJ said that U2 will debut a brand new track in a Super Bowl ad. He also added that it sounds like nothing they've ever done before, including Ordinary Love(thankfully). He also added the the album will be out in April. FWIW, it's a pretty reliable station in a large market (NYC suburb).

You say that like it's a bad thing....if they give us an album as adventurous as Pop but one that they had the time to actually finish (which it would appear they certainly have had) I'd say that's a great thing in my opinion.

I say we should keep old Brian in the eggholder he belongs in, far from Edge's.

I don't think it's necessarily bad, Pop was just way different from everything else

I'm not sure I even agree with that.  Pop was a next step from Achtung Baby.  A step too far for some, but the precedent was there already.

I guess if they're putting an ad in the Super Bowl, I'd expect to hear SOME kind of new music during it.  I'm not sure I expect to like it at this point, but I'll certainly be interested to hear what they do.

I actually like Ordinary Love, but this sounds very, VERY encouraging to me.

I remember MTV debuting discotheque and being a bit dazed and confused at the new sound but loving the video.

I imagine it will be this "Invisible" track that got mentioned recently as a possible first single.

I don't care what U2 says at the superbowl, as long as they say it VERY LOUD!

to put it another way, quoting a movie:

Him: People say you are sleeping your way to the top
Her: That's OK, as long as they don't say I'm sleeping my way to the middle!

I'm one of those who think Pop wipes the floor with AB.

It's not that I dislike it that much, it's a nice little song (b-side).  I just don't want the next album to sound anything like it. I'm hoping the boys get creative and go off in a new bold direction.
