Invisible must be the most poppy song, you can't say that was guitar driven

Invisible has a repetitive, memorable guitar riff. The Edge uses at least three different guitar sounds and treatments for the song.  The guitar is prominent even in the verse, it has a big riff, and a guitar solo.  The drums are light, and the bass is doing nothing there.  It is a guitar-driven song.

Cheers,

J

No, that memorable riff is the synth, which along with bass dominates the song. OL had two longer quasi solos.

i am pretty sure that the sound is a guitar. (explorer), you can see edge using it in the making of to create that sound.

Sure sounds like a synth, though no doubt Edge will obviously play  it live.

The making of shows Edge playing it on the guitar. Pretty cool guitar sound really. Although, I agree it sounded like a synth at first.

if he's using a guitar to get that synth sound, i'd say this album is the best bet you've <the Pop lovers> have got to getting the Pop sound "back".

It's a synth... but as someone already said he will just play it live on guitar in concert.... I see the COBL comparisons... although I think this is better.  Nice to hear Adam play some bass.... Edge is epic as ever with his chiming guitars.  It's a better executed song with better lyrics.

it's very much guitar driven. in the chorus, that's when the synth drops out and guitars take over. The outro also heavy on guitar with the scratch punky sound (very strokes-esqe). The verses not so much, this is where Synth and bass are more prominent. nothing  particularly poppy about this track when compared to their work in the the 00's. If anything less bombastic and cheesy. Just a shame bono puts too many notes into some sections and of course too many  syllables/words but that has become the norm since ATYCLB.

Bass line in the verses is up there with some of his best lines. I can only assume he smoked a dooby on that occasion. The reality of course will be that he was drinking green tea and wearing  Sandals.

One thing that has me curious is whether there will be a different version of Invisible on the album. It is titled as Red edit version which seems to suggest there are other versions. Perhaps an increasing trend now (yes, there have always been remixes but this is different) with U2 given 2 versions of OL, 2 versions of No Line (ie the song), 2 versions of Winter, even I'll Go Crazy was different live.

I heard it but only having read what was said in the original interview then it didn't really appear to be extended at all.The only thing i hadn't read was that Sunday Bloody Sunday was chosen by Edge to play as an oldie that had some of that punk rock spirit that they seem to be wanting to recreate.
