Going out on a limb.............

Echosmith

It would be interesting to see if they could handle the pressure of a full blown arena tour as a supporting act.
I dig them. Heavily inspired by U2's first three records, but I don't know, maybe they're a bit too young for a U2 audience. They might work as well as Lorde if they want to incentivate the young kinds to come to the shows.

I haven't listened to their album, but I definitely like Cool Kids.
Yeah it's a great song.

I already am thinking I'll need to change up a bit of my Favorites Songs of 2014 post and want to include this one. :) I've missed them playing here recently and hope to catch them live soon.

Do you guys think they may not have opening acts for 2015? I know they wait to announce them, but with this tour, I could see it just being them on stage.

I think that's a strong possibility.

Stereophonics and U2 in the same night would be amazing.

BRMC make some sense to me, I would love to see the Arctic Monkeys but I think they are getting a little to big for that. (At least in their own mind).

Kasabian would be cool.
Stereo phonics and U2 together was awesome.  Stereophonics opened North American leg 3 of the Elevation Tour.  Saw them in Providence and became a fan.

Would love to see
Kasabian
The National
The Pixies
Chrissie Hynde
Alt-J
Elbow

They opened for U2 during the 360, and their singer insulted us fans and said that we listen only to The Joshua Tree because during their sets the crowd was always cold with them. Clown.

A lot of good bands being mentioned. But a lot of them I would expect to see playing afternoon sets at Austin City Limits. Last time around it was bands like Snow Patrol, Muse, and Black Eyed Peas to name a couple. Two of which are staring at 20 years of playing together or at least in the industry. I am not so sure U2 will look to bands that while having a big upside, are still very much in their infancy.

PS. I saw Lorde at ACL. Very talented but does not get you pumped up for a U2 show.

It seems that opening acts are more a function of the record label that the headliner is under contract with (usually).  My guess is a number of bands on Island's roster are being lined up to be invited on the new tour.

The National is at the top of my wishlist.

All others have gone too "big time" to go for an Opening Act slot.

30 Seconds to Mars are fantastic live. Jared is definitely a U2 fan and they do a teriffic cover of Streets. They would surely make U2 on their game!  ;)
