Neither was Chrissie Hynde for her work on Pride.

Love this site. Never knew this. Thanks! I loved the Pretenders back in the day.

Yes she was, but under her married name of "Mrs Christine Kerr".

(She was married to Jim Kerr of Simple Minds at the time).

Coldplay will most likely be going on tour next summer, maybe they will open up for u2 on some dates and Chris will play Iris with them. I can totally hear some piano accents being thrown in.

This would be superb in my opinion and i know id be in the minority. Biggest tour of all time if they did
i like CP, but this would suck. Neither band could be themselves

I really hope that CP and U2 don't tour together. That would be lame.

Coldplay are far too big a name in their own right to be a support band.

Well it was the Coldplay anthem with better lyrics (partially at least) of SOI.

Did CM help write it too?

"Something in your eyes
Took a thousand years to get here
Something in your eyes
Took a thousand years, a thousand years

Hold me close, hold me close and donít let go
Hold me close like Iím someone that you might know
Hold me close the darkness just lets us see
Who we are
Iíve got your life inside of me"

These could be CWM's words I guess.

I'm not much of a Coldplay fan anymore, but I still think this is the best song on the album. Chris Martin's wail is absolutely perfect for the ethereal feel of the backing vocals. The song is better for having him.

SO why is he not credited in the booklet? what does he do on the song? backing vocals? piano?
My laptop is good to me he would not open the page to the Coldplay website...

It sounds like he does the backing wails. He is thanked in the booklet, even if he doesn't get backing vocals credit.

Listened to it, definitely him, didn't realise it on first listens, but like said above, his hazy background vocals are perfect for an ambient feel.

Coldplay are far too big a name in their own right to be a support band.

So are Muse but they still did an opening band stint.

But no I don't think CP and U2 on the same tour would be a good thing.

Agreed - I'd never get a reasonably priced ticket to that pair.

I don't want to derail the topic, but I think it would be grand to have Lykke Li open for some dates. A lot of U2 fans are probably curious about her, and the boost would probably be great for her career. And The Troubles really needs a guest vocalist to be complete.

Chris Martin featured on Iris

So what? I've never listened to Coldplay, but whatever his contribution was it worked in Iris. Iris is in the top four of my favourite SOI songs. It's a powerhouse like Ultraviolet.
