"The band is weighing a two-night structure for their 2015 tour.
'There is talk of doing two different kinds of shows,' says Clayton. 'One night would be a kind of loud, explosive rock & roll kind of event and then the other night's show take the acoustic arrangements of some of the songs, and kind of present those songs in a much more intimate way. But we don't really know how that's going to sound and look.' One thing the band hasn't figured out: how to make sure audiences understand in advance which show they're getting."

I predict people will prefer the Rock show.  I also predict people will be confused about which show they are getting (in a frantic attempt to get any tickets and may be disappointed that they got stuck with the acoustic show.)

I know that "acoustic show" sounds very lame, but if they are going to include more rarities in that concert (Drowning Man, anyone?), then I'd seriously consider it.

I would really like the acoustic show, especially if they had like a string quartet for some of their songs, like the version of Every Breaking Wave on the bonus cd. I actually really like the horns in California on the bonus cd, so heck tour with a horn section too, really mix things up.

Seriously Adam, how difficult would it be to just say : "first night lame acoustic show, 2nd night a real rock show"

One person's real rock show is another person's greatest hits jukebox show.

I hate to say it, but this sounds ideal for just waiting for the inevitable Blu-Ray set, to see both shows.

If I can avoid any acoustic song, I'll be happy.

voted rock show.  Never have been a fan of acoustic, but will go for both anyway.

If they do go on an acoustic tour, it very likely will be a chamber-pop theater style affair, with extra musicians. The good thing there, is that classical musicians are well trained, and can learn material quickly, so with the right musical director (the person who creates the arrangements and basically holds the show together) it can be a fruitful endeavour.

Also, "some of the songs" means a partially acoustic show, so you could have both sides of your bread buttered.

If I go, I'd choose the acoustic nights, as I'm bored by the usual workhorses, plus there's a chance for them to be slightly more adventurous in their song choices too.

I would wish to go to both shows but couldn't afford the tix or have the time.  I don't want a greatest hit jukebox; I've already seen those tours plus 360.  So, play it however it has to be to hear the new SOI & SOE & SOA songs plus a few suprises.

Contrast is a good thing - so a rock n roll show that has gentler acoustic moments would be the call here for me.

I see no problem at all with a zootv type b stage out in the middle of the floor being used for the acoustic numbers...

Bonos comments about RBW being a pop song then coming in with these dark lyrics and changing the whole thing is the most encouraging thing I have heard from him in ages....

love the ideas of both.  I fully agree with others that an acoustic show could really bring out some rare birds.  I'll see both.
