Wrong words?
« on: November 01, 2014, 04:50:42 AM »
I know, as die-hards, we never get U2 songs words wrongs!! But my 6yo son (Indy) who loves SOI, originally thought that the chorus in California said.

"Whoa, oh, all I know, And all I need to know is,  There is no, yeah,  There is no Enchilada!

I now think of that lyric every time I listen to California.

Do you have any 'wrong word' stories?

;D til i read the lyrics and heard the acoustic, i thought "out on zuma" was "auto zoom", California. Here was me wondering how Bono had an auto zoom camera in the early 80s!

SFS had "in you I found a rhyme" which I thought was "in you I found orion".

The Troubles "taking on the ship of someone else's pain" was "taking out the shitbox mumble mumble elses pain"! :o

Maybe I'm alone on this one, but in Volcano, Bono sings "Something in your mouth to blow." I don't care what the lyrics sheet says.

Isn't it "taking on the shape of someone else's pain"? Even if it is, I like the ship metaphor too :)

earlier this year, on the jimmy fallon show, i thought bono talked about some early gig at the fiji islands but the anecdote didn't quite make sense.

until i saw it a second time and realised he was talking about a fisheye-lens.

In The Troubles I thought it was "Even if I'm not afraid my body..." I'm checking the lyrics to see that it's wrong.
I was wrong, thank goodness.

OK, I'll come out of hiding to say that for YEARS I thought it was -

see the phone twist in your side

I know, I know.  ;D I never bothered to look up the lyric and it made sense in my mind just because!   ::)
