Do you really think Bono had glaucoma the whole time?
« on: November 04, 2014, 11:18:19 AM »
Not to say he would lie, but glaucoma is usually a later onset, I wonder if he has it now but was fine up until around NLOTH. Either way that combined with Adam's lasik problems has made me a lot more secure about my vision starting to go bad again (had lasik 12 years ago).

I had lasik (laser?) surgery 10 years ago and I still need glasses, mostly to read in a computer and drive at night. It's way better than how I was, so I'm not complaining. I can only assume laser surgery got way better these last years.
I'm no doctor but Bono had access to the best ones in the world, it's reasonable then that he could fight glaucoma all these years.

I think he's had a mild version for a while and opted to protect himself in an effort to stave it off.

I had lasik is 2001. Had that nasty halo effect for two years after and I still have some depth perception issues at night though. I've noticed that far away things are a little blurry again, but mainly when I'm tired.

Sitting front of a computer all day doesn't help.

I have no doubt Bono has some eye malidy-- he has the indicators of light sensitivity, tearing, etc. The shades may or may not help. But I think being so "naked" in front of the world gives him full rights to that tiny bit of protection that the glasses afford him. He bares his heart and soul to us, I am OK with those eyes being covered.

Amen to that!

And if it were vanity, he looks quite good w/o the specs too.

I mean it sounds good. But I don't buy it. Not for a second. But that's his prerogative to say it.

I think the better question is why would he say he has it if he doesn't?
