Larry introducing Kanye(World Aids Day Concert)
« on: December 29, 2014, 05:42:49 PM »
Hello! Did anyone else get a little confused when Larry introduced Kimye West as the most groundbreaking artist of the century? After he said that I decided to watch West's performance, and after about 30 seconds I got even more confused as to why Larry and Adam would even give that fellow any props! I know I am not a lover of rap- but I think it's easy to recognize a talented and interesting artist. West is not any of those. Also, I thought Larry didn't lie. Maybe he was in a charitable mood. Oh well, Larry is still my fav drummer of all time. That will never change

Yeah I'm still perplexed why Adam or Larry would think that guy is innovative, "talented" and "Kanye" are two words that should not be together. I think they were trying to be nice since the guy was there for a charitable cause. Adam started the intro and Larry pretty much just took the mike and went with it. Maybe he just wanted to get it over with and move on to more important people, like Bruce.

Yes, Jenniferh aka jen, I guess you could be right. I feel the same way about K westdashian. And I wish I liked Bruce, because I know a lot of people do, including U2. But I have never enjoyed his music. I think he puts a lot of himself into his performance, so that's good. I liked Chris Martins versions of the songs he helped with at least. No comparison to "The Real Thing", though ;D

***NEWS FLASH***
KANYE WEST is a Def Jam recording artist (if you can call him that ) which is an affiliate of
Universal Music home of U2 , so MAYBE Larry was just being a good employee.

In the words of Sherlock Holmes:

"It's a capital mistake to theorise without facts. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts....there is nothing more deceptive as an obvious fact.....One must eliminate all other factors and that which remains must be the truth."

For the longest time, I never liked Kanye or his music, but over the last few months, I've been getting into his music. It's understandable to not be into rap and I agree that Kanye is often a jerk, but to call him untalented is not really fair, nor is it a fact.

That's cool. I do like some rap such as the great Beasties, and Snoop makes me laugh and reminisce at times. And I know it is normal to have a big ego or self promote when you are in the entertainment business, but at least musicians like U2 can back it up. I hope to see what others do in Kanye or Jay-Z or Wu-Tang someday. I'm too suburban

Kanye can be an ass, everybody knows that at this point.

Regardless, he is a very talented rap artist, and incredible as a producer.

Even though that's technically not true either, he does write his own music.

After hearing his performance at this show and also on various award shows, he's not talented in my opinion. He may write his own stuff, but he's not a gifted writer. Having reviewed some of his recent lyrical work, wow!

Snoop Dog is not exactly talented either but he's a fun guy, and that's what makes him likeable. Kenye is just an absolute jerk and self-centered. Most people can't stand him just because of that, let alone his awful music.
