Plenty of standards & hits to satisfy the causal fan.
What regular songs need a rest to make room for more?

1. Sunday Blöody Sunday - doubt it
2. Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of
3. With Or Without You
4. Mysterious Ways
5. In A Little While
6. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
(7. Get On Your Boots - buh bye, please)

Heresy maybe, but I'd add Beautiful Day and COBL to that list. Great songs but played heavily the last 3 tours (2 in the case of COBL).

Stuck In A Moment and In A Little While, time for them to have a rest unless they are performed in a different way then what has been done before.

Sunday Bloody Sunday. Had enough of it.
Mysterious Ways. Same.
Beautiful Day. There better songs.
All I Want Is You. Not too good live imo.

Beautiful Day - Boring, boring, boring, plus Bono sings it horribly generally, time to rest it
SBS - tired and just not essential anymore
WOWY - If Bono can be Ar**d to sing it then ok, but as he generally can't then jib it
Pride - Tired, and way behind Bonos vocal reach.
ISHFWILF - Dull as they come, time to leave it.
Elevation - Please, no more.
COBL - Horrible live (not a fave of mine on record either)
Vertigo - Please, no more.

***********CONTROVERSY ALERT**************

Streets - Yes I know this is heresy to most, but it has been played on every tour since it came out and the 360 version was the sound of a band tired of it, bored with it and going through the motions. It bombed at Glastonbury, Muse played it with more energy, passion and verve, nicely assisted by Edge who seemed to enjoy playing it with them more than he did with U2 at Glastonbury. I honestly could live without hearing it, its been done to death.....

Also wouldn't care less if the acoustic versions of Stay, Desire and SIAMYCGOO are not reprised, they are dull and lifeless - full band Stay would be most welcome instead......

I will be happy if all these be shelved- SBS, NYD, Pride, ISHF, WOWY, MY, One, Stay, Stuck, Elevation.  All these have been played to death over the years and no longer has an impact for me anyway.  The band themselves seem to be bored playing these too.  Shelving these songs should make ample room for welcome new additions to the set that haven not been played for several tours.  I would say also shelve BD and Vertigo, COBL, but then I would be pushing my luck!

Until The End Of The World (Five tours. Enough already)
With Or Without You (it's time)
SBS (can come back someday; needs another break)
Stuck (love it; just needs a break)
Elevation (doesn't need to be there with Vertigo, and Vertigo is better, IMO)
Walk On (really lost its punch since Elevation)
I Will Follow (anything else from Boy, please)
Bullet The Blue Sky (it needs to STAY DOWN)

Since they are looking at 2 different set lists, or at least vastly different from night 1 to 2, does that change things?

Let's assume 23 songs per show...and maybe 13 songs will be played every night.  We will say 6 songs from the current album (assuming a new album is not released), and 7 more standards (like WOWY, One, Streets, MW, Pride, SBS or BD)

Over a two night period, that could be 20 more songs outside of the album and these standards. That is a lot to choose from.  I think we need to start thinking of the set lists in terms of a two night event, since that is how the tour is being positioned.

It depends on the narrative they are aiming for.  The Elevation and Vertigo tours thrived on the joyous innocence+Fracture+Turmoil+Redemption thread. The 360 tour tried to abandon that and instead came up with some Mr. Roboto meets Jesus meets Space Jam bullshee until it was rebranded as an Achtung Baby tribute show.  I think the downfall of this album will repeat the familiar thread.  But on a positive, this album has a lot more good stuff to fill in the holes where the previous two albums failed to.

Agreed except I really love Until the End of the World. On the Boy thing, I really want to here Eletric co. become a regular. WOWY could stay if Bono would put more heart into the song, I think he doesn't like it anymore. I'd love to see Running to Stand Still or Red Hill Mining Town(please) take its place or I Still haven't found's place as a regular Joshua Tree song. Also it seems like a lot of people want Streets out. I'd definitely disagree. That song is soooo good live. I'd hate to see it go.

I vote "Pride".  At the very least turf it on one of the nights.  Not to take away from it's greatness or importance but it's suffered from decades of overexposure and to me it's not one of the needs to played at every show songs like "Streets" or "One" are.

I doubt it'll happen though.
