A few questions.

What C.S. Lewis book pages is he throwing?
(Update: an eyewitness (catcher?) says "The World We Live In" & "The Last Battle" .Hmmm.. Others?
Other books?
Lyric changes?:
"a cross in a passion where the passion is fate"?
Instead of "The worst things in the world are justified by belief, what does he say in LA 2?
Does he  sometimes say/pray other things besides Psalm 23 in the outro?

Thanks..

Dave,

It seems to be Psalm 23 but this audio is indecipherable.

Psalm 23 was probably used as inspiration for Love Rescue Me from 88'. "cursed thy rode and staff, they no longer comfort me". I think this comes to Bono from Leonard Cohen. Instead of using scripture as re-affirming (+) Cohen had railed at it (-) like many other bluesmen expressing their human doubt amongst other things. We know Bono sees Cohen as an inspiration so this is plausible.

Bono was also throwing out "Will to Power" by Nietzsche so he is quoting the Bible one day and then Friedrich the next. Gotcha!

If anything this type of polarity was used on ZOOTV when Bono was influenced by C.S. Lewis' The Screwtape Letters: “Mock the devil and he will flee from thee.”

LA1 - Lewis' That Hideous Strength was sitting right in front of us and Bono picked it up and ripped out pages during RBW.

During LA3 Bono sand "Where is the Love?" by BEP so that ties in with earlier themes...
